Safer Parking ‘Park Mark®’ Award

The Centre’s car park has been awarded the ‘Park Mark’® Safer Parking award. This nationally recognised award identifies us as offering a high standard of parking facilities meaning that we have appropriate measures in place, that have been assessed by the Police, to deter criminal activity and which create a safer environment for both drivers and their vehicles.

Drivers are however asked to ensure that valuables are not left in or on display and that their vehicles are left secure.

Cycle Parking

The Centre’s car park has a dedicated parking area for cyclists which is located by the vehicle exit barriers on Level One. Cyclists are asked to enter the car park, after dismounting, via the exit ramp in Salisbury Terrace using the footpath and park in the designated area, adjacent to our Shopmobility facility.

Cyclists are advised to secure their cycles to the fixed parking mounts using their own locks. Note – no responsibility for cycles parked is accepted or implied.

Car Park Equipment

The Sovereign Shopping Centre’s car parking system incorporates the use of recyclable parking tokens that replace paper parking tickets.

This innovative parking system, which is manufactured by Scheidt & Bachmann one of the world’s leading suppliers of parking systems, has already been introduced into a number of shopping centre car parks in the UK.

The systems unique recyclable plastic parking tokens (about the size of a 2 pence coin) replace the half-a-million paper tickets used each year by visitors to the car park.

The system includes six pay stations (four at shopping mall level and two on Level One of the car park) and the facility for visitors to pay for their parking using their debit or credit card via ‘Chip & Pin’ card readers. Note – Not all credit cards accepted.
